Babes Blog 2011
I have to do it. Blog J I’ve missed our Babes conversations over the holidays and I am now ready to kick 2011 into gear. Once again the previous year was no great shakes, but hey, now we’re into an entirely new decade so things have got to be looking up.
Despite howling at the blue moon last 2010, I didn’t sell a single manuscript. I visualized and wrote lists and chanted and did everything short of commit a bizarre ritualistic crime in pursuit of a New York contract. None of it worked. I got a new agent, I created an entirely new monster, I poured heart and soul into networking and making good solid impressions. At the end of the year I was depressed and exhausted – in bed by ten New Year’s eve with a brutal cold and no champagne.
But I still have high hopes <g>one of many annoying character traits I own is bull-headed persistence despite forward movement , and the other is this ridiculous habit of looking for the bright shiny spot in the dark. A small voice that sounds a lot like the ghost of Christmas present in Scrooged encourages me, advising me to look beyond the crappy now and into what good things could be just around the corner.
So, I still did my goals for 2011.
I will write three full length manuscripts – two YA and one medieval romance
I will blog more consistently
I will be more in the ‘now’ of what is really important – a balanced family/work schedule
I will NOT let the craziness of the publishing world dictate how I feel about my writing JJJJ I write because I love it and at the end of the day, that’s the most important thing
Goals, anybody??? Or any interesting breaks from tradition this year? We took our kids and went to Disney instead of staying at home – we had so much fun, as a family, that we are going to do it again next year!!
Happy New Year!!!!
