My only excuse is I was writing away from the net and it completely slipped my overtaxed mind!
Your Ode earned the most votes!!
I like having misbehaving characters. Sometimes when they behave the worst is when they go off on a tangent, and the next thing you know somebody’s been decapitated. LOL.
It is a lot of fun to write characters that thumb their noses at the world – BUT – we need to make sure we aren’t alienating the reader with our heroine/hero’s bad, bad self.
I know that sometimes people just do bad things – but when motivated properly, even a bad thing can be an understandable thing. Stealing is bad. Five slaps on the hand, buddy – but when it’s an older sister stealing Easy Mac so that her younger sister can eat cause mom is a crack ho, lol, well- that buys reader sympathy and builds character development at the same time.
My current WIP is about teenagers, and they always are doing dumb but understandable stuff. I love it!
Happy FRIDAY! And on another note – hurray for Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways – it finaled in the 2008 Indie Book Contest JJJJJ My first book, my first contest with a pubbed book, and my first final. I am feeling very fine!
Take care and if by chance you accidentally catch yourself doing something bad – blame somebody else <g>
